| | Dr. Hans-Georg Frank Prof. Frank is one of the founders of AplaGen and the only founder still being active in the operations of the company. He studied Medicine at the Free University of Berlin (FUB) from 1980-1987. Already during his studies he started scientific work and finalized his thesis in 1988. This extended into a 1st assistant position at the department of anatomy being associated to the national task force on embryonal pharmacology and teratology. He focussed on transplacental transfer of drugs and the role of special peptidases in these processes. During this time he synthesized substrates for these peptidases. From this position he changed to the company Sandoz (Basel and Nürnberg;1992-1993), where he managed clinical studies (phases II and III; approval support). From then on, he focused again on the placenta and transplacental transfer at the department of anatomy of the RWTH in Aachen, headed by Prof. Kaufmann. In this group, large grants from WHO and The Rockefeller Foundation lead to patent applications, which later became pillars of AplaGen. During his time at the RWTH he did his “Habilitation” and became Professor of the medical faculty and faculty member. | | | | | |
